Lately I have been feeling a lack of creativity and a lack of opportunity for creativity, so I decided to take action and get out of my slump. Last weekend, my friend Stephanie and her boyfriend volunteered to model for me and help me try out some new posing techniques, a new location, and new post-production edits.
I wanted to treat this photo shoot as a mini, personal mentor session. I wanted to challenge myself and ultimately be one step closer to translating the images in my head into photographs with feeling. For this first mini-session, I only used one location in order to force myself to rely on the subject of the photo instead of the environment. I also tried poses I have never used before when photographing couples. In post-production and editing, I tried out a warmer b&w and a warmer-yellow edit in order to mimic the rustic feel of the photos. I am also debuting a new watermark! The watermark is very much in the draft stages and will probably be refined many times.
Please let me know what you think if this first mini-session. Am I capturing emotion more effectively than before? Is the editing effective? Any suggestions and comments would greatly help me better explore my creativity!
